Stone Brewing – Berlin Welcomes New Vice President & General Manager

Marcus Thieme to Lead Stone Brewing’s European Business   Berlin, April 19 2017 –Today, Stone Brewing announces Marcus Thieme as the new Vice President & General Manager @StoneBerlin. Marcus will lead the Berlin-based team by developing sales and growth strategies and providing guidance to Stone Brewing’s Berlin and European operations. Marcus will report directly to Dominic Engels, Stone Brewing CEO and co-founder & Executive Chairman Greg Koch.   “After an extensive search, we’re pleased to have found Marcus, as he encompasses the perfect match for advancing our businesses in Berlin and across Europe,” stated Dominic Engels, Stone Brewing CEO. “Not only does he have an impressive track record, but also brings a proven and vast experience in building up brands in the US, across international markets and especially in Europe.”    “I am honored to be part of this great company, team and outstanding brand” adds Marcus Thieme. “While I was living in the US, I had become an avid fan of Stone Brewing, making this opportunity uniquely exciting for me personally. What’s more, it is especially gratifying to be able to bring my family back to Berlin.”   Marcus most recently worked with Jägermeister, where he held various leadership positions for the past 16 years. He began his career at Jägermeister as an Area Manager Sales and Marketing. In 2007, he became Regional Director, responsible for the Africa/Europe Region. From 2010 to 2014 his responsibilities concentrated on the Western Europe region before taking on a U.S. assignment as CEO of Mast-Jägermeister Services USA, based in Brooklyn, NY. Most recently, he was Chief Marketing Officer for a Jägermeister subsidiary, Sidney Frank Importing Co. StoneBerlin to Distribute Beer in Cans

Stone Brewing Berlin is announcing its 2016 Beer Release Schedule, which includes the fact that the brewery will be packaging its Berlin-brewed beers exclusively in kegs and…aluminum cans. The brewery, known for its bold and creative beers, will take a similarly innovative approach to packaging, putting the quality of its beers and environmental responsibility at the forefront of its European brewing operations.  “Experts today feel that cans are better for beer. Period,” says Greg Koch, Stone Brewing CEO & co-founder. “At the heart of our business is a dedication to fresh, high-quality beer and cans are the ideal packaging for preserving the unique, bold flavors we work so hard to achieve. Additionally, research shows clearly that cans offer incredible benefits in terms of sustainability and we are confident they will be the smartest decision in reducing our carbon and environmental footprint.”

Stone Brewing Berlin – A Craft Beer Colossus

Stone Brewing Berlin, the US craft brewer’s first European outpost, is a brewery, restaurant and beer garden on the site of the former Mariendorf gasworks. The red brick colossus of the 3,200 square metre main hall of Stone Brewing Berlin is home to the brewery, main bar, restaurant, merchandise shop and library bar. The brewery has a 100 hectolitre main tank and an additional 10 hectolitre tank for experimental and small batch brews. Stone distributes the beer brewed here to 18 countries across Europe.
