StoneBerlin to Distribute Beer in Cans
Stone Brewing Berlin is announcing its 2016 Beer Release Schedule, which includes the fact that the brewery will be packaging its Berlin-brewed beers exclusively in kegs and…aluminum cans. The brewery, known for its bold and creative beers, will take a similarly innovative approach to packaging, putting the quality of its beers and environmental responsibility at the forefront of its European brewing operations.
“Experts today feel that cans are better for beer. Period,” says Greg Koch, Stone Brewing CEO & co-founder. “At the heart of our business is a dedication to fresh, high-quality beer and cans are the ideal packaging for preserving the unique, bold flavors we work so hard to achieve. Additionally, research shows clearly that cans offer incredible benefits in terms of sustainability and we are confident they will be the smartest decision in reducing our carbon and environmental footprint.”

If anyone was going to march the craft beer revolution into Europe’s traditional brewing heartland, it had to be California’s Stone brewery. They are the makers of Arrogant Bastard beer, after all. Setting up in Germany – the home of high-quality pilsners, old-school brewers and the prickly issue of a 500-year-old beer purity law – was always going to need a certain amount of attitude. And Stone has brought plenty of their big and bold approach to their World Bistro and Gardens outside Berlin, set on the site of an old gasworks.

How This Hopped-Up Brewery Is Bringing American Craft Beer To Germany
In a converted gasworks building in western Berlin’s Mariendorf neighborhood, American craft beer brand Stone Brewing is engaged in an unusual project: Selling Germans—and Europeans in general—on the joys of bitter, hoppy beers like Stone IPA and the company’s popular Arrogant Bastard Ale. Germans have traditionally enjoyed lagers and wheat beers that are a far cry from the IPAs that are fashionable on the American scene, but Stone hopes Europeans will go gaga for the alternative.
